The Centre for Global Development through Education (CGDE) Steering Committee meets three or four times a year, and is comprised of representatives from all of the partner institutions that are involved in CGDE, including representation from Southern Ireland, Northern Ireland, Lesotho and Uganda. The Committee has a busy agenda for each meeting as they discuss the progress of the four CGDE research projects, two in Lesotho and two in Uganda; the Teacher Educator Exchange Programme (TEEP), which also runs in both countries; the progress of the eight CGDE PhD students, three from Lesotho, three from Uganda and two from Ireland; and many other aspects of CGDE related business.

The most recent Steering Committee meeting was held in the Quinn School of Business in University College Dublin (UCD) on the morning of Friday the 25th of June. Brian Tubbert and PJ Sexton gave their apologies. The meeting welcomed back Mrs Roisín McEvoy who had been on maternity leave and Ms Louise Long who is replacing Mr Martin Hagen as the representative from St Mary’s University College, Belfast. The contributions of the partners from Uganda and Lesotho were greatly appreciated as was the participation of the partners from Northern Ireland. The Steering Committee meeting ran for three hours, with reports from the Executive Sub-Committee the Planning Sub-Committee and the Director of CGDE; and many crucial discussions took place. Thanks to Dr Conor Galvin to hosting the Steering Committee meeting in UCD and providing coffee before the meeting and lunch afterwards.
