Autumn lunchtime lecture 2
Teacher Educators as Agents of Change for Education for Sustainable Development – The Case of Lesotho College of Education
The study aims to explore the historical culture of structure and agency regarding educational interventions, particularly environmental education and education for sustainable development within initial teacher education in Lesotho. I will explore educational interventions and projects locally, regionally and internationally in order to find out the best approaches to engage teacher trainers from different faculties into a participatory action research study to develop an integrated critical curriculum espousing sustainable development.
The study is based on an Educational Research Network project that is coordinated by the Southern African Development Community – Regional Environmental Education Programme (SADC-REEP). This project explores educational quality and relevance through education for sustainable development within Colleges and Universities.
