Assessment practices in the education system of Lesotho

This project will review the current assessment policies and practices of teachers, schools and the national authorities. It will develop a strategy to support approaches to assessment in schools and to the training of teachers that recognise and promote a wider range of learning skills. The focus will be on assessment in English, mathematics and social studies in primary education and English, mathematics and science in secondary education.

Identification, assessment and inclusion for learners with special educational needs (SEN): towards a national system for Lesotho

This project will study the capacity of relevant organisations in Lesotho to maintain a system of assessment and support for children with SEN. It will also look into suitable ways of classifying such needs and relevant interventions in the context.
Strategies will be developed for a system of identification, assessment, school placement and interventions, for consideration by the ministries
responsible for education and health. The project will work for a situation in which inclusive teaching methods can be more effective.

Teacher effectiveness—teaching and learning improvements

This is a mentoring and shadowing project focusing on the work of teacher educators in Lesotho, in relation to critical areas of pedagogy for both primary and secondary levels. The project will report on the mentoring process itself as well as the issues of teacher education and support for teachers.
